Use of knowledge, research and evidence in practice

NQSWs demonstrate commitment to continuous professional learning and inquiry which supports evidence-informed practice and a wider culture of learning. NQSWs will recognise and value the opportunity to consolidate and continually develop the knowledge gained from education to ensure they achieve and maintain a level of practice and best possible outcomes for people who use services.

They will have the opportunity to develop their skills to critically review and apply relevant knowledge from social work practice, professional and academic fields, legislative and policy frameworks and from the lived experience of people who use services.

NQSWs should expect and be provided with protected time to learn, professional supervision and relevant learning opportunities and to contribute to the wider culture of learning.

We highly recommend the Iriss Navigating Evidence resource this is developed for NQSW. You can also find out more information in the NQSW supervision resource 6. This gives you details about how to record your learning and use of evidence.
